What is the Family First Economic Support Pilot?

The FFESP is a targeted financial assistance program developed by Sacramento, California, designed to offer monthly support to families facing economic hardships. Eligible families can receive $725 each month for a year, which will provide them with a steady income to manage their finances during tough times.

The program specifically helps families with young children under the age of five and focuses on low-income households in designated areas of Sacramento. This initiative is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to reduce financial pressures on struggling families and promote the well-being of children in these households.

Who Can Qualify Sacramento Stimulus

To make sure the FFESP reaches the families who need it the most, specific eligibility requirements are in place. These are designed to ensure that financial assistance goes to those with the greatest need.

Residency Requirements : Only families living within certain Sacramento zip codes are eligible for the program. These include 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, and 95838. By focusing on these areas, the program can offer targeted support to residents of specific neighborhoods.

Income Requirements : Families must have a household income that falls below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). For example, in 2024, a family of four would need to have an annual income of under $60,000 to qualify.

Age of Children : The program is specifically designed for families with at least one child under the age of five. This is because households with young children often face additional costs related to childcare, healthcare, and other essentials, making them more vulnerable to financial strain.

Exclusivity : Families already enrolled in any other guaranteed income program are not eligible to apply for the FFESP.

Community Focus : The program prioritizes African American and Native American families within Sacramento County, recognizing the unique economic challenges faced by these communities.

How to Apply Application Timeline and Payment Details

The FFESP application period started on September 30, 2024, and closed on October 13, 2024. During this time, families were encouraged to submit their applications to be considered for the monthly stipend.

Once the application period ended, random selection was used to determine the families who would participate in the program. After this, the Sacramento County Department of Child, Family, and Adult Services began processing the selected applications and issuing payments.

The first batch of $725 payments will be disbursed starting in mid-December 2024. Payments will continue each month for a full year, with funds transferred directly into recipients’ bank accounts.
